Amy Welch - Art Portfolio

I am a freelance artist with a ‘jack of all trades’ approach to working, priding myself on my presentational skills and execution of my artwork. I specialise in painting and sculpture, but I enjoy working in a multidisciplinary way, giving me a handy range of skills that I have acquired over the last 20 years.

Art is something I am very passionate about, inspiring me to be involved in as many art projects as I can; I believe art should be accessible to everyone to explore and experience.

Visual Illusion

Winning as a BRILLIANT Artist for Durham Lumiere 2017, I exhibit my art work ‘Visual Illusion’. Using engraved Perspex and LED lights, I made an engaging visual response to the endless but familiar depths of Durham cathedral, designed to change your spatial awareness. The engravings are based on a series of patterns found in and around the cathedral, bringing a contemporary context to this monumental building. The piece has also been exhibited at Staithes light festival 2018.

Light Art

A series of different light artwork pieces I have exhibited throughout County Durham, 2016 - 2019.

On The Bus, 2017

Lesbian AnatomyTaking renaissance paintings and manipulating them into contemporary art, emphasises how the differences in sexuality is not new. Titling my work “Lesbian anatomy” is to challenge the preconceptions of society. The only difference between a lesbian woman and a heterosexual woman is who they love, what is under the skin, is all the same.
